Imagine a story about a very young character who climbs Mount Everest while facing many challenging problems. Peak, a realistic fiction book by Roland Smith, is a great book to read. The book is all about a 14-year-old boy named Peak who attempts to climb the highest mountain in the world while faced with many issues. You can say Peak is brave and skilled in scaling something like Mount Everest. The book has its twist that makes the book's plot more defined. If the plot was written on paper it would be a mountain, and a steep one. We jump into action right away and get to know Peak while on the adventure. We find him being taken with Josh for a road trip after he is on trial for scaling a building without permission. Josh takes a surprise turn in the road trip as they make their way to the Himalayas. He soon takes Peak up the mountain, as they slowly ascend the tall peak. After ending with a good plot, this book will leave you thinking about what else Peak will climb.

I really enjoyed the build up of this book. It made the plot all the better. The problems give depth to the plot and are not boring throughout the book. I liked how Smith gave the reader a good amount of time to get to know the characters and get used to them. This gave us a connection to the characters, so when there was a problem we would have real fear for the characters. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes adventure and outdoors. To sum it up, this book is worth reading and putting time into it.
