Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 is an exciting tale following the Life of Guy Montag. Montag is a simple fireman, but his world will be flipped upside down when he meets Clarisse McClellan, a young girl who is odd for the time. Clarisse and Montag will talk several times and Montag will slowly begin to realize a painful truth, he is not happy.
Montag slowly starts to collect a secret stash of books, which are all illegal and burned by the firemen. His wife discovers one and starts to worry about him. Montag insist that she is compliant with him because he believes that he will find the answers he is looking for in the forgotten literature.
Montag is eventually caught by his fire captain, Beatty, and is given his chance to burn the books before he is arrested. He doesn’t, instead he finds an old English professor, Farber, and makes a plan to attempt to bring books back. Montag is forced by his fire captain to burn his house, as is customary when the house contained books, and then Beatty attempted to arrest him.
Montag has to fight for his life, burning Beatty and assaulting two other firemen. He destroys a mechanical hound, a mechanical animal used by the firemen to catch small animals such as; cats, rats and chickens. The police chase Montag and another hound is brought in to help hunt him down.
I would highly suggest this book to anybody. It was a very good book and was very well written, with excellent description of characters and places.
