Manhunt by James L. Swanson

Have you ever read a book that made you cry with boredom? Have you ever been excited when a book ended? I hadn’t, but then I read Manhunt by James L. Swanson, and learned that there’s a first time for everything.

This book is about the 12 day hunt for John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of Abraham Lincoln. You may, at first, wrongly believe that this would be interesting. Then you will open the book, and realize your mistake. With about 10 pages on the .44 caliber gun the Booth chose, and another 10 on why he chose it, I can guarantee that by page 105, you will be ready to a. fall asleep, or b. throw this book into an ocean.

To put it plainly, this painstakingly slow-moving and all together horrible made me want to tear my eyes out-- simply to stop the pain of reading it. But, if you enjoy books that are completely terrible and move at the pace of a turtle, then pick this book up, you’ll love it!
