Stephanie Meyer, the author of the Twilight Saga, describes this series as follows, “The Mortal Instruments series is a story world that I love to live in. Beautiful!” I would have to agree that this series is a very captivating story. The City of Bones, written by Cassandra Clare, definitely deserves its title of a New York Times bestseller.

Getting to meet all the different character, whether they are mundanes, shadow hunters, werewolves or vampires, is exciting because they are all unique and majorly contribute to the story line. Clary Fray, the main character, faces many challenges to understand who she really is, as well as the people and things surrounding her. She falls in love, however, is she loving the right person?

Whether Clary is discovering the truth about her past or finding magic to be real, keeping friends close but weapons closer, or trusting who is apparently her blood-relatives, Clary, her best friend Simon, and shadow hunter Jace must go through obstacles to find the truth. There are many questions in Clary’s life that need to be answered. In order for these mysteries to be solved; Clary and her friends must find the Mortal Cup to stop Valentine from hurting Clary’s mother. Once Clary saves her mother and finds Valentine, many of these questions will hopefully be answered. As the book goes on, clues open doors to new questions, as well as answers to old ones.

With this action-packed, adventurous plot comes misbelief along with shocking news arising everywhere. To get a taste of the perfect amount of sass and love, this novel is the perfect read.
