“Catching Fire”, the sequel of the well-known book and movie the “Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins is about a young woman named Katniss Everdeen who won the 74th annual hunger games along with Peeta Millark. The story takes place just one year later and rebellion is brewing in the people who live in the Capitol (districts 1-12). Sensing rebellion, the capitol threatens Katniss, her family, and friends for her actions in the previous games. Rebellion finally arises in multiple districts, and the Capitol is on their heels so they seek revenge, which they do through the 75th annual hunger games. The hunger games are a fight to the death that are participated by people who live in districts 1-12. Two people from each district are chosen, one boy and one girl. But this is not a normal hunger games every 25 years the Capitol holds a special hunger games that is much more difficult and contains many twists to the standard rules. What did the Capitol have planned for these games? You will just have to find out yourself.

If you enjoyed the action and plot twists in the first book “Hunger Games”, then this book will certainly not disappoint. “Catching Fire” has a little bit for every type of reader, action, drama, suspense, and a love triangle between Katniss, Peeta, and Gale. Every chapter seemed to leave me with a cliff hanger and seemed to shock me left and right. This book was very well written and was also strategically written. I highly recommend this book, but I do think it is wise that you read the first book of the series beforehand. This book is one of my favorites, I read the whole thing in one day and I can’t wait to read the final book of the series called “Mockingjay”. Overall I give this book 4½ stars out of 5.
