Until We Meet Again -- a Bluford High book -- is an amazing and yet sad and emotional. This urban teen fiction really opened my eyes to love and romance and how emotional things can get when someone is desperate for love. But the real eye-opener is that Anne Schraff is a white-haired Caucasian lady who grew up in a racially mixed community. She only had a mother because her father passed away so she understands some of our problems especially since she was a high school teacher for ten years.
Until We Meet Again follows the lives of Darcy, Brian, Hakeem and Darcy's father. Centered around Bluford High, Until We Meet Again looks at teen romance and the struggle to keep their love life strong. The book is filled with chapters that will entertain and shock you. There is a lot of drama and romance so pay close attention. For example, Darcy told her father she was going to Brian’s sister house to babysit. But that was just her excuse to go to Brian’s house. Her main objective, however, was to spend some time with Brian, who she has a crush on. She was supposed to spend the night with her family because this was going to be the first time in a long time since her family had eaten dinner together. Because she had to babysit, her father was mad because she had to go to work on a family night. Everything was so planned out and perfect, but now his plans were ruined. Then, she headed toward Brian’s house and was so happy to see his face. Everything was romantic inside: lights turned down; television was on low and playing music; and a box a pizza was on the table with candles. Brian was a real mack daddy and knew how to play his cards right when it comes down to girls. They started making out, but it got a little bit too sexual for Darcy. There was a lot of unwanted touching and she started shouting. Suddenly, her father arrives at Brian’s house with her dinner because he felt bad about what happened earlier that night. The father rams the door down and snatches Brian off Darcy. Remember when a girl says stop, she means stop. He warns Brian to stay away. On the way home, the father told Darcy that he will never trust her again. Believe it or not, this story is just a small drama from one chapter! The rest of the book is like a epic movie. I haven't even told you about hakeem yet. This book is a must-read.
I strongly recommend Until We Meet Again to mature teens and fathers of teen girls because the story examines the daily problems and pressures of teen life. It is a wonderful book and I can relate this to some parts of my love life as a teenager. I can use her experience to show me the right path to take in a relationship with girls. I think mature girls should read this book, too. They can learn a thing or two from this book. For example, how to protect themselves from a mack daddy like Brian. If stubborn teens refuse to listen to their parents, maybe they will learn by reading Until They Meet Again.
