The Castle in the Attic

The title of the book I read is The Castle In The Attic and the author of the book is Elizabeth Winthrop. Some of the major characters are William who is a protagonist. Ms. Phillips who is a protagonist. Sir Simon who is also a protagonist. And Alastor who is the antagonist.

The story is about a boy named william, william is a gymnast who is entrusted with a little castle. He receives the castle from his housekeeper ms. phillips who also helps william with his gymnastics. She gives william the castle when she decides to go to england. A few days later while william is in his attic playing with the castle he finds out that the castle is magic. He finds the silver night and when he picks him up he comes alive in his hand. The knight informs william that his name is sir simon and that he had been frozen in time by the evil wizard alastor. He shows william the little token which makes you smaller. william is distraught that miss phillips is leaving. He mainly is sad because she has attended all of his gymnastics meets and was his spotter at practices so he sees her as a good luck charm. Upon miss phillips scheduled departure william is worried about her leaving so he decides to use the token on her.

A powerful moment is when william and miss phillips are shrunk to the size of sir simon and are forced to live in the castle with sir simon for awhile. I think this is a powerful moment because they are shrunk and are living in a castle in williams attic with a medieval knight. And they have to get along and survive with each other. The target audience I think is middle to high school. and i give this book three and a half stars.
