If you are looking for a book about a cowboy then this is the book for you. The main character in this book is Ira Hamilton that is quickly approaching manhood. Ira Hamilton lives in rugged northern California.
Ira Hamilton's only friend if Cricket. Cricket is Indian, and her father works very hard. Ira gets things heated up when she falls in love with Thoma, Crickets sister. The main problem with Thoma and Ira being together is that having a white person and an Indian person together is against their heritage so Ira had to try to smoothe things out with Cricket and Cricket's dad. Another problem that Ira encounters is when she loses her horse and has to go find it was a very difficult task.

I personally thought that this was a great read and a great book for if you are looking for a very I pack action book.
