Heaven is for real / Todd Burpo and Lynn Vincent
Thomas Nelson, November 2 2010, 163pg
Non-Fiction

Your son almost died because his appendix burst. Your son survived the surge but your son said that he went to heaven.

Todd and Sonja Burpo had two kids Colton and Cassie Burpo. Todd is a pastor, basketball coach, and work in the fire department while Sonja practice with the choir at night and a stay at home mom. Sonja wanted to go to Denver for a vacation so they did. When they came back Colton and Cassie where very sick but after two days Cassie felt a lot better but Colton had a high temperature still sick. Sonja and Todd decided to take Colton to the hospital. The doctor said his appendix burst and that he needed surge right away. Todd and Sonja was scared that Colton wasn’t going survived the surge. Sonja called in told every to pray for Colton. Colton woke up from the surge. Colton wanted to go back to Denver in touch the spider because he wanted a sticker so they did. Colton kept saying that he went to heaven. Sonja and Todd didn’t believe him until Colton said he saw Todd grandpa there and that he had a sister that died in Sonja stomach. A kid at school was bulling him, people at church didn’t believe him, and newspaper press kept coming to their house asking questions.

Heaven is for real is a difficult read I still recommend reading it. The author did achieve his purpose because the author wants the readers to be persuaded to read the book. He wanted you think about if you really believe in heaven. People go to church but if someone told you that they went to heaven and back while in a death situation would you believe them. One thing I wish the book did is tell more facts about the girl who had the same experience as Colton. Heaven is for real is very motivational. I will recommend kids an elementary school to read the one for kids (heaven is for real kids) and middle school and up to read the regular one.

I really like this book and I think everyone should read it’s was really sock how the ending ended but I love it. I want them to make another book or movie. I recommend you to watch the movie too.
