Speak Review
Stay quiet and make sure they don’t find out. Sounds pretty demanding huh? Well I guess you can say that describes freshman Melissa’s life perfectly after she is raped by Andy Evans at a summer party that year. Locked up tight with a desperate seal across her mouth, she conceals all that has happened at the party going full on silent. Strong and brave, Melissa’s story is one that will bring tears and warm-hearted grins. Readers will see and feel the struggles she goes through to keep her secret.
We’ve all had that one secret we’re dying to never let go of. But imagine trying to keep it for the whole year, while being outcasted by other students who want nothing more than to ruin your introvert demeanor. Guess that would be pretty hard. Melissa’s one of a kind. She’s one of those characters who don’t care about what others have to say but what she’s trying to do. Her headstrong attitude is one worth praised for.
Curiosity is something readers will begin to understand more through the story. From reading this novel, they will see how curious people can get from those that are quiet. Melissa’s peers started to wonder and question if she’s always like that and if something has gone wrong with her. Readers can learn from this novel that just because you’re silent, doesn’t mean others think you don’t exist.
So why not speak and say this is going to be one of the next best novels on your bookshelf?
