Ever wondered how cool it would to have a greek god/goddess as a parent? Like having Zeus as your big daddy, or maybe, Athena, as your sugar mom? Well, Percy Jackson, a New York boy who lived with his mom all his life, does, and to say the least, has to live up to it, when his mom gets captured by Hades, lord of the underworld, and Poseidon’s brother.

It all started when someone, (unknown as this time), steals Zeus’ master bolt, in which all lightning in the world was created from. Zeus, believing his brother Poseidon stole it, confronts him and stated if it was not back before the summer solstice, he would cause war against him. When word spread around that Zeus’ bolt was missing, all the monsters in the world went on a frantic search, trying to find the bolt and claim it as their own.

When Hades gets the word that the bolt was stolen, he thought that it was Percy, Poseidon’s son. So Hades sends out a cyclops to kidnap Percy’s mom, to hold her ransom, until Percy gives him bolt, that Percy, was so called “stolen.” While trying to fight the cyclops to keep his mom safe, Percy stumbles upon Camp Half Blood, the place where all the demigods of greek descent train at, and sent on quest.

Their, he meets Chiron, the head of the camp, Dionysus, who was punished by Zeus, and send to keep the camp in order, Grover, the satyr in training, and Percy’s protector, and his soon to be girlfriend, Annabeth, who is the daughter of Athena. When Chiron finds out that he is a child of Poseidon, he is kind of scared because that means, he is the chosen one to fight Kronos, the lord of the Titans.

With no prior training ever, Percy is thrown into the midst of everyone else, and is expected to learn how to train for war. While his is their, he meets many of his enemies, like Clarisse, and Luke. But clearly he makes more friends than his enemies, like Silena Beauregard, Will Solace, Connor Stoll, Travis Stoll and others. During the first night of Percy being at camp, Hades appears to him stating that he has his mom and to bring him the bolt. Percy is outraged and sets out for the underworld. On his way out, Grover and Annabeth tag along with him, as they head out. While leaving, Luke gives Percy a shield of his, and some flying shoes, that once belonged to his dad. With that in mind, Percy finally heads off.

While traveling though the U.S, he obtained 3 pearls, which would help them escape the underworld when the time was right. He fought many enemies like the Lotus palace, and Medusa. He encountered Ares, which he fought, and took back the helm of darkness, the reason why Hades was mad at Poseidon in the first place. Ares told him that he stole the bolt and helm of darkness, in hope to cause a great war between the gods. Ares cursed him, saying that his sword will one day betray him, giving up his entire strength, and not be able to kill, when the time is great. Also, he stated that he didn’t have the bolt, contrary to their belief.

After that encounter, Percy and his friends head off to the underworld to fight Hades. They give Hades back his helm but he wants the bolt as well. When Percy drops his shield, Hades finds the bolt hidden behind the shield Luke gave him. Hades then takes the bolt from behind the shield and threatens to kill Percy, Annabeth, and Grover, and would of, if not for Persephone, who, still holding a grudge on Hades for imprisoning her in the underworld in the first place, takes the bolt from her husband, and paralyzes him.

After all that, Persephone returns the bolt to Percy and the gang as they head on out. But since they only had three pearls, Grover decides to stay behind in the underworld, to later be freed by Percy’s wish to Zeus.
So Percy gets his mom back, and heads of to the Empire State Building, where Mount Olympus is homed at, only to find Luke standing in his way. Luke tells percy all his intentions, and how he wanted the gods to turn against themselves, and he tried to raise Kronus from the dead. After some time of battling, Percy calls on his dad's help and “drowns” Luke, or so he thought.

So finally, after traveling across the world, the underworld, and fighting Luke, He finally returns the bolt to Zeus who was pleased that it wasn't his brother Poseidon fault after all. Zeus promised to return Grover from the underworld as reward for his help. And after all this, he finally gets to return home with him mom back to New York, where he waits to be called again, when the next time, might be his last.
