Me and Earl and The Dying Girl by Jesse Andrews is another book in a series of teen novels about love and struggle. The main character Greg Gaines spends most of his time avoiding association with any social group. His only friend is Earl, the youngest child in a family with many “problems”. Comparatively, he is much more scholarly than his gang involved siblings and  consequently spends most of his time with the Gaines. “The Dying Girl”  is Rachel Kushner. Once she gets cancer Greg spends more time with her, rendering him unable to continue his plans of not being involved with a social group. Overall it was a very enjoyable book despite its similarity to most other teen novels centered around relationships. Its  major difference was Greg's intentions to avoid the situation entirely. The writing was overall appealing to the audience and contained many slang words and language aimed towards the audience. Because of the language it was an overall easy read.
