In the book Michael Vey: Storm of Lightning readers will find action, adventure, and romance as the Electroclan escaped after foiling the Elgens’ latest scheme. In the book readers will have a closer look into the personal lives of the electric children who sided with Dr.Hatch along with many other surprises. After the Electroclan come back from Taiwan they find that their family may be dead but as a happy shock find they were moved and stay in hiding at a new ranch. The biggest challenge for the Electroclan was Taylor’s mother was wrongly convicted for kidnapping Taylor so they have to break her out. On the other side Hatch’s electric kids start to question and rebel, and by the end Hatch finds out and has sentenced them all to terrible punishments.

In the book I really liked how it showed a lot more of the personal side of Hatch’s kids because it shows what their situation is like and what their actual relationship is like. It also shows how they live and what the relationships between the kids are like. What I dislike about it is that Michael and his friends don’t really get involved in much. It does have action in the end of the book when getting Taylor’s mother but most of the excitement surrounds storylines such as the other electric children, Hatch’s right hand man Welch, and Chairman Schema. So it is a little boring on the side of the Electroclan, but they do make a lot of preparations so I expect the next book to be no bore.

The story is really formed well with how the storyline goes as well as other qualities of text. The book starts off well with the Electroclan having to figure out whether their parents are still alive or not. Then in the middle Hatch’s kids start to rebel and Welch is trying to find Michael Vey. Then it ends well with Hatch punishing his children and the Electroclan having to get Taylor’s mom out of jail. The story gives a lot more hints about the voice which caused a lot of predictions. It also had a lot of foreshadowing with the Electroclan planning to take down the Joule and rescuing the other electric children.

If readers enjoy action and adventure I would definitely recommend the series. There is a bit of romance in the series so but not much. There are 6 books in the series at the moment with the author Richard Paul Evans planning on writing 7 and this is the 5th of those books. I would recommend starting with the first book and go through the series because then readers will better understand a lot of things going on. Also, if readers are unsure about the book then start with the the 1st and go through. That way they can get a feel for it. So I would highly recommend the book, it’s very exciting, and written very well.
