The story “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” by Jenny Han is a realistic nonfiction novel that takes place in present day California. Its main settings are Lara Jean’s house and her school. This story is about a 16-year-old girl named Lara Jean who likes to keep to herself rather than tell people how she feels. She doesn’t have the nicest clothes or the biggest group of friends, but Lara Jean didn’t really care about that. In the story, Lara Jean has written letters to all the boys she’s loved before, and one day they all mysteriously all got sent out. Everyone she’s ever had a crush on now knows. Including her sister's ex-boyfriend. One thing leads to another and Lara Jean finds herself falling for the wrong guy.
   

Some minor characters in the story are Peter, Josh, and Lara Jean’s older sister Margot. Lara Jean’s older sister Margot is everything Lara Jean wishes to be. She looks up to her and when Margot found out how Lara Jean really felt about Josh, she thought it was the worst thing that could have happened. Josh is Margot ex-boyfriend who Lara Jean really liked before Margot did, but couldn’t say anything about it. Peter is one of the most popular boys in school. He’s on varsity teams and is known by the whole school. Lara Jean makes a deal with him to pretend to be together in order to get his ex and Josh jealous. However, in the end, Lara Jean actually ends up falling for Peter instead of Josh.
   

In the beginning of the story, we learn what the letters really mean to Lara Jean, and how much her family means to her. We learn about the most important people and things in her life and about her past. In the beginning, Margot leaves for college and Lara Jean struggles to do thing things Margot did to help out. In the middle of the story, all of Lara Jean’s letters get sent out to her crushes and it seems like the end of the world for Lara Jean. Until she finds herself fake dating Peter K. in order to make Peter’s ex and Josh jealous. Lara Jean ends up living in the middle of a lie and starts to change as a person. In the end of the story we find out that Lara Jean actually falls for Peter and Kitty, Lara Jean's little sister is the one who sent out all her letters.
   

I thought that this book was okay. It wasn’t the best, but not the worst. The ending was very predictable, and there weren’t a lot of surprises other than her letters getting sent. In my opinion, people who like cheesy, easy reading stories would like this book because most of this book is very predictable, but you still can’t help but get attached to the characters.
