A Mango Shaped Space by Wendy Mass, it is about a girl named Mia who’s in eighth grade who has a condition called Synesthesia which is a real condition that mingles your five senses together which makes you see colors from things like eating food and hearing certain sounds. In A Mango Shaped Space Mia is struggling with fitting in with other people and this is because it’s hard for her to fit in and embrace the gift she has. She thinks she’s garbage because of it.

Mass did a good job making the reader see what Mia was seeing by giving a brief a very detailed description. I liked the book because it teaches you not to be ashamed of yourself no matter how different you are from somebody else, and that it’s okay to be different. I kept wanting to read more because I was fascinated by Mia’s life and what was happening around her. I enjoyed the book to a good extent and I recommend to all ages and people who are ashamed of being different.
