Fast and Furious is the fourth movie in the Fast and the Furious franchise and brings back Dominic Toretto. Dominic is once again doing his old shenanigans of stealing from trucks on the highway with his group, but after one encounter that almost causes the death of Letty, the love of his life, he knows that he's got to leave the group, because eventually the cops will find him, and he doesn't want the others to go down with him. This causes him to leave to go to Panama in secret. However, he's forced to come out of hiding when he gets a phone call saying that Letty was murdered. In order to receive vengeance, Dominic finds his way to Los Angeles, searching for clues as a way to discover the true murderer. While there, he crosses paths with Brian O'Connor again, who's back at the FBI and has a dicey past with Dominic, since when he was undercover in the past, it caused Dominic and his group to flee to south of the border. Although the two have an uneasy relationship with one another, the two of them decide that they need to put aside their differences and work together to investigate the killing that they soon realize might prove to be to dangerous of a task for the two of them to take on.
Fast and Furious manages to be an entertaining film that combines adventure and drama to create a tale that will definitely please some. The beginning of the movie does a satisfactory job of reintroducing audiences to Dominic Toretto and his relationships with the other characters in the movie, and the same goes with Brian O'Connor. The middle of the movie is able to progress things along and conjure up drama between all of the characters on screen. The enticing ending of the movie proves to be pretty well done, and the actual conclusion of the movie is able to end the movie wonderfully so and is able to set up future movies for success. The movie benefits from having a few thrilling twists and turns that are delicately placed throughout to ensure that the movie is constantly interesting and never becomes boring or too predictable.

Fast and Furious benefits tremendously from having some truly noteworthy visuals that aid in helping the movie's stunts come to life and look like just about anyone could handle a car in the same fashion as the way the people in the movie do. The vividly outstanding visual effects prove to be a major factor in making all of the car scenes pop out, and the spectacular special effects are called on early and often, so luckily for the movie, they are able to deliver and manage to execute all of the insane driving, which is a main reason for why people actually want to watch the movie.

Fast and Furious is also able to boast a talented cast. Vin Diesel does a superb job of portraying Dominic Toretto, and since he is one of the more complicated characters in the movie, the fact that he is able to play the character with so much intensity is a major plus. Paul Walker does an amazing job of playing Brian O'Connor, and his character is able to do an incredible job of contrasting with Dominic. Because Paul Walker is a good guy who tries to do bad, and Dominic Toretto is a bad guy who tries to do good, the two characters showcase the duality of a similar mindset and personality, which is actually quite interesting to watch and allows the movie to have many different, complex layers.

Even though viewers seem to love Fast and Furious, critics didn't find the same level of satisfaction. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a horrendous 29%, and IMDb gave the movie a mediocre 6.6/10. However, an impressive 93% of Google users liked the movie, which goes to show that potential viewers shouldn't be swayed by critics' opinions, since others seemed to find lots of contentment with the movie, regardless of how critics think.

Although Fast and Furious is adventurous and has some truly action-packed moments as well as a splendid cast, it still isn't a good fit for those who haven't seen the others yet. However, this one proves to be fast and furious.

"Ask any racer. Any real racer. It don't matter if you win by an inch or a mile. Winning's winning." - Dominic Toretto
