Ratatouille is a classic animated movie that proves to be a joyful roller coaster ride. The movie revolves around Remy, a rat that aspires to become a chef one day, due to his love of the pairing of flavors of food, despite the fact that the profession typically isn't suitable for rats and he has been told so by his friends and family. After a freak accident occurs that involves Remy and his family being forced to leave their previous home, Remy finds himself separated from the rest of the group and abandoned in a sewer system. Not sure where to go to next, Remy soon finds himself chasing his dream and going to Paris, hoping to finally put all of his culinary skills and knowledge to the test to see if he really has the chops to break all barriers and become a real cook. However, in order to make his dream a reality, Remy realizes that he is going to need some help and he finds the perfect assistant in Linguini, a garbage boy with no real knowledge or experience when it comes to cooking. Although Linguini had the initial job of getting rid of the rat, Remy and Linguini end up discovering that they have the ability to help one another out. Remy can help Linguini become more than a garbage boy and become the chef that he has always wanted to be, and Linguini can help Remy achieve his dream of being able to cook in a real, respected kitchen. Even though they are in agreement that they need to help one another, they realize that Remy needs to be hidden while he cooks, because otherwise the rest of the kitchen staff would freak out about a rat being near the food. This act of hiding results in some truly hilarious moments, which mostly end up with Linguini being embarrassed and attempting to cover for all of his seemingly weird behavior. As their relationship continues, Linguini soon becomes famous for his cooking but must continue to hide his secret of why his cooking has been so tasty all of a sudden, and while all of this is happening, the duo must deal with a fierce food critic that has the potential to put their restaurant out of business.
Ratatouille does a fantastic job of creating a meaningful story that is packed with sophisticated and charismatic characters. The plot of the movie is detailed, layered and miraculously clever. Even though the movie is animated, this doesn't change the fact that at the core of the movie is a beating heart that allows the whole adventure to include plenty of heartrending emotion. Due to how likable both Remy and Linguini are as characters, audiences are immediately rooting for both of them and feel that much more attached to them. This results in viewers feeling an entire spectrum's worth of emotions, because the movie excellently manages to present plenty of terrific highs and drastic lows throughout the movie, while also contrasting and balancing between heartwarming moments and heartbreaking ones to ensure that watchers are captivated by the movie's natural charm.

Ratatouille is one of those rare movies that is relentlessly entertaining, enjoyable, comedic, and dramatic enough to please just about anyone and everyone. In fact, the movie is complicated enough to be an adult movie for kids and a kids' movie for adults that proves to be both intellectual and fantastical, often at the same time. While the movie is definitely a family friendly adventure, it doesn't entirely feel that way, and the family friendliness never takes away from the brilliance of this superb story.

Ratatouille has the rare ability to be enjoyed both critics and viewers alike. Rotten Tomatoes gave the movie a high 96%, which is just as impressive as it sounds, and an outstanding 96% of Google users liked the movie, solidifying the concept that this movie is a great fit for a wide variety of audiences, if not everyone.

Ratatouille has a spectacular concept fueling the whole adventure, and aided by two lovable characters in Remy and Linguini, the movie proves to be a dazzling tale that will be sure to make people feel joy. As a classic animation film that brings out happiness in everybody, this movie truly is an absolute must-see with a story that deserves to be seen.

The author's comments:

"In the past, I have made no secret of my disdain for Chef Gusteau's famous motto: Anyone can cook. But I realize, only now do I truly understand what he meant. Not everyone can become a great artist, but a great artist can come from anywhere. It is difficult to imagine more humble origins than those of the genius now cooking at Gusteau's, who is, in this critic's opinion, nothing less than the finest chef in France. I will be returning to Gusteau's soon, hungry for more." - Anton Ego
