Meet the Parents
Meet the Parents proves to be a surprisingly charming comedy that will please audiences with its charismatic characters and bold concepts that combine together to form one of the most thorough comedies out there. The movie revolves around Greg Focker, a young nurse that plans to propose to the woman that he loves. Although Greg has only been dating Pamela Byrnes for ten months, he feels that it has been some of the best moments of his entire life, and he thinks it's time for them to settle down with one another for good. However, Greg soon realizes that Pamela's sister is going to get engaged and that her fiancé made the smart decision of asking her father first. Discovering that requesting permission from Pamela's father is needed, Greg and Pamela find themselves going over to the Byrnes household to prepare for the sister's upcoming wedding. As Greg attempts to find a way to ask Jack Byrnes for his blessing, he soon finds himself meeting the parents in a manner that might just prove to be his worst nightmare. Greg Focker must deal with lie detectors, a cat that hates him, deception, a parent that seems to have it out for Greg, and so much more as Greg quickly discovers that meeting the parents isn't nearly as easy as it sounds.
Meet the Parents proves to be a bewilderingly engaging comedy that is laugh-out-loud funny from start to finish. The beginning of the movie does an excellent job of setting the stage and introducing audiences to Greg Focker, as well as his relationship with Pamela Byrnes to ensure that what comes next only adds to their character development. The middle of the movie manages to progress the movie along with ease and adds new and exciting details to the story to make it substantially more interesting and meaningful, as the characters get fleshed out. The enticing ending of the movie proves to be exhilarating and exciting, while also taking advantage of all of the drama, suspense and intensity that has been conjured up thus far. The actual conclusion of the movie is clever, witty and brings together all of the romantic qualities of the movie to help elevate this hilarious comedy into a world of heartwarming sophistication.
Meet the Parents has a talented cast that shines throughout and helps to transform into their roles, making this movie that much more realistic. Ben Stiller is superb as Greg Focker, and he makes the character relatable and filled to the brim with emotion, which are all things that a main character should have. Teri Polo's Pamela Byrnes is terrific, and she provides the perfect contrast to Stiller's Focker as a relaxed character that's already used to the shenanigans and odd ways of her father. Robert de Niro is once again the hero of a movie, and his spectacular performance as Jack Byrnes is noteworthy for all of the right reasons. His character is headstrong, passionate and simply one of the most memorable characters of the whole movie, especially due to his astounding one-liners, awesome quotes and just the fact that de Niro ensures that the character is brought to life.
Meet the Parents has just about it all, including a star-studded cast, a majestic story, a thorough plot and a perfect balance between humor and drama, with a pinch of romance to bring it all together. The movie is a phenomenal fit for just about anyone and everyone of all ages, simply because the movie succeeds on so many different levels. Without a doubt, this is an absolute must-see with a story that deserves to be seen.

"I love your daughter, Jack. I love her more than anything. But frankly sir, I'm a little terrified of being your son-in-law. This whole weekend has given me a lot of doubts about whether or not I could even survive in your family. I think you've got some serious issues." - Greg Focker
