Grown Ups
Adam Sandler stars yet again in a movie that leaves the audience laughing from beginning to end.
This cast including Adam Sandler, Kevin James, David Spade, Chris Rock, and Rob Schneider is iconic. Directors of movies often put this quintuple of actors together in their casts to produce top tier movies. Good friends on and off the stage, they never fail to make a movie interesting. They are all so different, and when you throw five very different personalities together, you are sure to get some interesting scenes out of it.
Grown Ups starts off when Lenny Feder(Sandler) gets the striking news that his childhood basketball coach had passed. His team meets up at the funeral and reunites for the first time in years. Then, they go on a vacation to celebrate and enjoy the 4th of July weekend.
This movie is entertaining to watch over and over again because it feels different every time you watch it. You get to enjoy new jokes, but you also are waiting for your favorite lines that you know are coming. Then you focus on new parts of the movie that you may not have ever noticed before.
One of the things that make this movie so amazing is that it has many themes that are very relatable. Lenny is wealthy and he allows his children to play video games and have new and nice things. When his kids get to the vacation house they question the box on the back of the Tv because they are used to flat screen Tv’s. Towards the end of the movie, Lenny's wife Roxanne realizes that she forgot how to skip a rock. This part of the movie is enjoyable because we often get caught up in the world around us and forget to take time to be kids again and just relax. The audience gets to put themselves in the shoes of the Grown ups and ask themselves if they are enjoying that aspect of their life enough.
Grown Ups is enjoyable for all ages. There are plenty of things that younger viewers can enjoy like the basketball game, while on the other hand some older viewers may find the older characters more interesting and funny. Throughout the whole movie there are key events including the kids playing with cup phones with string that make the adults realize that it is okay to be kids again and that they do miss those things. It also brings them all back into their childhood because they put all of their electronics down for a while and just be kids.
Overall, Grown Ups is a great movie that I highly recommend watching. This movie is great for all viewers and has many key ideas that the audience can relate to.
