El Norte Review
Dreaming for a better life is easy but getting a better life well that’s different. El Norte is a film about 2 siblings whose names are Enrique and Rosa. They have to migrate to the U.S to escape the government. Enrique and Rosa were forced to leave their country because of a revolution that their dad made. The government was killing every single person related to the people of the revolution so they had to leave to the U.S to not be killed. They have many hardships through this 3 part movie. I would categorize it as Immigration/Action/Horror. El Norte will show you how sometimes you don't have time to dream but you just have to do it.
This film starts with a family from Guatemala that works in a farm of coffee beans. One day, they were at the dining table and someone brought El Norte into the conversation where they talked about how even the poor have cars. When they come back the dad goes to meet with other people who were trying to unionize and planned to make a revolution. The military found out so the people of the revolution escape and the siblings go to El Norte.
The second part, the siblings get to Mexico where they are trying to find a way to cross to El Norte. The siblings remember a guy in Guatemala telling them to find a friend of his who can take them into El Norte. The siblings try other ways to go to el norte but find out it is not easy and there are people who won't help them. They find the guy and he gives them an option of crossing the border that may cost them something.
The third part, The siblings cross through the border and they have to find a way to make money and get somewhere to live. They get jobs and meet people that help them live the U.S life. The siblings do everything to survive in the U.S they learn a lot of this but there might be turn on there dream and their will following them.
I would recommend this film to everyone that likes immigration/Horror movies. This film is not one that I have watched before not only because it is a 3 parts film but because it is a film that will leave you goosebumps. This film is not one that you have watched before I guarantee it if you watch this movie you won't regret it.
