What makes Hair Love a great short film? What makes a great short film is the plot and the moral message of the short film because a short film needs to have a good story arc to be interesting, needs character development so there could be relatable or likable characters, and a good take away from the film. Hair love is a great film because of the character interactions between the family and the character development in the father. I like how Hair Love portrays the wholesomeness within the characters, I also like how Hair Love uses a cartoon art style for the short film.

Hair Love is about a young black American girl, waking up and trying to style her hair just like how her mother styled her hair by watching a Youtube video, with the help of her father she was able to style the exact same, and then she visits her mother in the hospital, who is diagnosed with cancer. I think  

In my opinion the only main character in the short film Hair Love is the daughter because she is mostly focused on the entire short film and the parents are just the supporting characters. The main characters don't have any names because there is barely any dialogue in the film but you can see the role of characters and the emotions of the characters by the art of the creators of the film. The daughter is a young black American girl and is probably going to preschool or elementary school because of how small the character looks and how she is drawn to be shown as not mature yet. The father and mother are also black Americans, the father is caring and understandable towards his daughter, while the mother is also shown to be the same but is rarely shown in the film until the end.

After watching Hair Love, I like the wholesomeness of the film because after watching Hair Love  it makes me more happy and more willing to help others. It also gives another view to life, wanting to do the same thing for my children because I used to want to style my hair differently just like the daughter. In a way I guess I can relate to the daughter and the father because the daughter reminds me of myself and the father can be related to me in the future.

What makes Hair Love a great film? Hair Love is a great film because it shows what a happy family is and it also shows the wholesomeness of having a family.
