Inception Movie review
Is it a dream or is it reality? Inception is a film about Leonardo DiCaprio who plays the main character “Cobb '' who can steal secrets by entering people's dreams and finding out their secrets through their subconscious. Cobb being able to do this has made him not be with his family and live a normal life. Cobb and a few of his friends that do the same thing of stealing secrets through people's subconscious are given a task to plant an idea into a dying rich guy’s kid to sell his dads company. If they can successfully plant this idea into the kids mind Cobb will be free and be able to see his kids and live a normal life. This idea to plant an idea into someone's head is called Inception. For Cobb to complete this task, he and his friends have to be in a dream within a dream within a dream, three levels of dreaming. It's a very dangerous task because unlike in a one level dream,if you get hurt or die in this third level dream you go to limbo and live in a dream until you find a way out which can take decades.
When I watched the film, I thought it was very different from every other film. There wasn't just one main plot in the movie like in every movie you have watched. In my opinion there were three main plots, completing the task of inception, if Saito will survive, Cobb letting go of Mal. Having this many plots kept me interested throughout the film. It was a “wow” film to me because of the action the movie had, it had me at the edge of my seat. They took something so simple as dreaming and turned it into an amazing movie.
The most interesting character to me is Elliot Page who plays the character Ariadne. Ariadne in the film was new to going into people's subconscious, so Cobb taught her everything she needed to know. And what made her so interesting was that she was the only girl in the group that was doing the task of inception and also the only person to figure out the problem that Cobb was having when he was in his dream.
I believe the message of Inception is that ideas are viruses. In inception it even says “An Idea Is Like A Virus”. Cobb compares ideas to viruses because he says that an idea can take root in the human mind and change the course of history, like a virus that starts small but then slowly spreads and gets bigger which gets you sick.
