I remember seeing an instagram post about the best movies coming out in 2024 a few months back. Movies like Dune 2, Gladiator 2, and another Godzilla movie—Nothing really sparked my interest. I never planned to see Dune 2, but a friend asked me. And What I thought was going to be another long boring star wars knockoff ended up being one of the best movies I have ever seen. Paul Atradies journey to seek revenge for his fathers death is an incredable story. If you liked Revenge of the Sith you will love Dune 2.

The cinematography was some of the best I’ve ever seen. The production team was able to make an alien-like desert planet look so real and barren with deep orange, yellow, and brown colors. Even down to the scales on something as complicated as a giant sandworm looked real. The emotions that they were able to tie into the cinematography was also impressive and creative; Like when the scene was in all black and white to display the twisted and disturbing world of Harkenan. 

I was also taken by surprise by how well Timothy Chalamet was able to play a warrior (I couldn’t really picture him as a warrior type character before I saw the movie). I think he did a great job developing himself as (Paul Atradies) the main character of the movie. The way he was able to portray a young dukes journey for revenge was fantastic. His initial soft and determined character transition really well into a feared warrior.

There was way more action throughout the movie than I expected. A 3 hour long movie went by in a flash and I wasn’t bored one time. The fight scenes, like the big war at the end of the movie, were my favorite parts of the movie. There was so much action and vital things that happened in the last battle that changed the mood that had been created throughout the entire movie.

The producers did a really good job of setting up the future movies with the twist at the end of the movie. I am very excited to see how the series progresses.The movie made me feel so many emotions, it was like watching your favorite sports team play an important game. 

Overall, I thought Dune 2 was an amazing movie. The picturesque cinematography along with the unique and intriguing storyline and characters kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire movie. I can’t wait until the next movie comes out.
