300
300 is a movie about the Battle of Thermopylae. Leonidas, the king of the Spartans, kills a messenger from Xerxes, the king of the Persians. Leonidas leads three hundred of his Spartans into battle against the Persian Army. The Spartans were known for their ability in battle. Their mission is to hold the Persian Army while the Greek Army retreats and regroups. They lead the Persians into a pass so they can better defend their flank. Leonidas and his army of three hundred Spartans and some allies hold the pass for three days. I thought that this was a very good movie. From what I hear from historians it is very close to the actual story. It also depicts some known facts about the Spartans like not excepting deformed babies. Last, it shows how the Spartans weren’t alone in the battle. They did have some allies though not a lot. Altogether, I thought this movie did a great job of telling the story of the Battle of Thermopylae.
