Easy A is by far the wittiest and most entertaining film of the decade. Even with its use of present day humor and dialect, this movie is able to cleverly deliver a poignant message of valuing oneself. The setting allows viewers (especially the youth) to relate to the characters’ daily lives. In high school, it’s natural to see rumors spread like wildfire. Easy A does an extraordinary job in depicting the full scope of what happens among young adults behind the walls of high school, young adults who are in the process of discovering who they are. By connecting this film with the novel, The Scarlet Letter, we are taught a valuable life lesson. Never be judgmental of others. Never be deceived by what people say. Never be influenced by others’ opinions or perspectives. These cautions are not just stated to prevent drama or chaos, but they are made to prove that unless we are the actual victims, we will never know the full truth behind someone else’s story.
