Field of Dreams
The movie Field of Dreams is a story of an inspired man. Ray Kinsella played by Kevin Costner is a son who doesn't want to end up like his father. This film directed by Phil Alden Robinson, which begins when Ray starts thinking about his father and how he never took any risks in his life.
One day while working in his corn field Ray hears a ghosts voice that said “If you build it he will come.” After sleeping on it, he figures out what the ghost means, he figures out that it means that if he plows his corn crop and builds a baseball field, Shoeless Joe Jackson (Ray Liotta), his fathers favorite player, will visit his field. So Ray tries it and builds a beautiful field with perfect green grass and the best dirt around. Magically the next day Shoeless Joe Jackson appears and Ray is mesmerized. Ray even plays ball with Jackson. At the end of the night Shoeless Joe Jackson walks back into the mysterious corn fields to tell his former teammates. The next day Jackson comes back with all of his teammates to have a baseball practice and Ray suddenly hears another ghosts voice and at the a PTA meeting he figures out that he needs to go to Boston to find Terence Mann and take him to a baseball game. While at the game they hear more ghosts and end up in Minnesota to look for Archie Graham.
The cinematography of the film was very good with all the great shots of the corn field and of the baseball field. The acting by Kevin Costner was good and made the viewer feel like they was really there. The acting of James Earl Jones (Terence Mann) was not his best performance and he kind of seemed stiff like a robot. The writing was good and was very descriptive, and every line made the viewer want to keep watching. The characters and roles were filled perfectly and really made the viewer believe this was happening. The title of the film is perfect as the baseball field in Iowa was the “field of dreams”.
I would recommend going to see this field. This is a heartwarming story with a ending that really pulls the movie all together. If you like baseball or not you will love this film and leave the theater wanting to tell everyone you know about it.
