Coach Carter
Everyone has had expectations and controversy at some point in their lifetime. When dealing with this type of situation the best thing to do is to ignore what other people are saying and just do what you know is right. That is exactly what the coach in the movie “Coach Carter” did. “Coach Carter” is a mix between a sports film and a drama. The writers of this movie were Mark schwahn and John Gatlin, and they did this story justice. This story was actually based on the true story. The best part about this movie in my mind would be the individual characters and how they relate to the real world.
Coach Carter(Samuel L. Jackson) did everything a regular coach would do and much. He really made the story what it was, by pushing each player to do their best at whatever they are doing. In fact, he had to go to some pretty crazy extremes to get his point across. He is like the parent that some of the kids never had, just a little more extreme.
Everything changed when Damian Carter(Robert Richard) or also know as the coaches kid, wanted to play for his dad. He will fight for what he wants. He even had to convince dad to let him stay. Damian could be compared to tutor in the story, since he is always helping others and telling them what they are doing wrong.
When Coach Carter told Kenyon Stone(Rob Brown) that he had what its takes and had a chance to play in college, that was just another thing for him to worry about. Kenyon is the strongest character in this story, puts up with the most and never complains. Kenyon is easily comparable to a full grown up, even though he is only in high school. He takes responsibility and does not try to run away, he takes it on head first. Without Kenyon in the story, it just would not have that character with the drive and will to do what needs to be done.
There is so much to say about Timo Cruz(Rick Gonzalez). Timo is like a little kid, but let me explain. He is like a little kid because he doesn't want to do the hard things, but learns his lesson in the end when he goes through a even rougher time. This movie needed a character like this. Since he is in this movie, you never know what will happen next, it keeps you thinking.
The movie “Coach Carter” is the type over movie that you could watch over and over again. The reason for that is because of what Coach Carter, Damien Carter, Kenyon Stone, and Timo Cruz do for the movie. They make it so you don't know what will happen next and you learn something new every time you watch it. I recommend “Coach Carter” to all ages because of the moral of the story.Yes, when people mention “Coach Carter” they will think of the basketball team in the movie, but this is about much more than basketball, this is about...heart.
