Her calm, soothing and sweet voice caresses your mind as you listen to the beat of a song in My Everything by Ariana Grande. Some songs in the album can put you in a drowsy state, but others could make you feel empowered and excited. The concepts of love, deceit, and heartbreak are all expressed with true emotion and melancholy by Grande, making the essence of the album a wonderful experience for the listener.

My Everything is an album by Ariana Grande, which debuted on August 25, 2014 by Republic Records. This was Grande’s second studio album, and is meant to act as an evolution from her first album Yours Truly that was released the previous year. The album explores the struggles of having feelings for somebody, and the effect that those feelings have on her heart in Grande’s voice and a wrangle of words meant to send a message to the listener. Compared to her previous album Yours Truly, it explores countless mature topics and brings the listener in for a whirlwind of emotions. My Everything was well received by the public, as it received nominations for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Vocal Album, and a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Album. My Everything is showcased beautifully to the listener in a multitude of different ways, and gets the reception it deserves.

The songs on My Everything showcase Grande’s ethereal voice, and explores topics that seem so excessive in a fascinating way. One of the singles, “Problem,” which features Iggy Azalea, projects the same pop approach Grande provided in Yours Truly, but explores the genre of contemporary R&B, which makes the song catchy and amusing for the listener. “Problem” is one of the most beloved songs on My Everything, peaking at #2 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, and staying on the chart for 25 weeks straight. ”Why Try” is a classic pop song with an upbeat voice, but a somber message that someone can be both sinister and angelic. The amazing and captivating vocals make the song inspiring to the listener. “Break Your Heart Right Back,” which features Childish Gambino, has a similar voice and mood to “Problem,” where the meaning of revenge and heartbreak is represented, but the voice is upbeat and catchy for the listener to easily remember the lyrics. “Break Free,” which features Zedd, conveys a more empowering message, one where a feminist agenda combating heartbreak is represented. Grande appears to be serious, and each word is enunciated with glee and passion. Each of these songs conveys a whirlwind of different emotions and thoughts through marvelous voice which contribute to the album’s great success and passion to the listener.

The lyrics of each song and their meaning also add to each track. “One Last Time” provides a sorrowful tension that is expressed through her words: “And I know, and I know, and I know / That you got everything, / But I got nothing here without you.” This conveys a deep meaning that Grande can’t live or be without somebody, and that person gone in her life has an effect on her well-being. “Love Me Harder,” which features The Weeknd, uses the track to transmit the same message of love and heartbreak. Grande uses the skill of repetition through her words to reinforce and emphasize a point for the listener. This is conveyed through the lyric: “And if you really need me, you gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, got to love me harder (love me, love me, baby) / ‘Cause if you want to keep me, you gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, got to love me harder (love me harder).” The alluring techniques cause the song great success. This is evident through the Billboard Hot 100 Chart, where “Love Me Harder” peaked at #7 and spent 22 weeks on the chart. Finally, in “You Don’t Know Me” the track sends the message that no paparazzi, haters, or fans know Grande, and cannot judge her by just a few photos on Instagram and a few tweets on Twitter. “The girl you see in photographs is only / A part of the one I am, don’t judge me / ‘Cause that’s not reality and all I can be / Is in love with who I’m becoming.” Grande uses lyrics beautifully to explain her point in each track, and she marvelously captures the listener’s interest through her catchy tunes and somber messages.

My Everything by Ariana Grande uses voice and lyrics to beautifully illustrate the message of the album. The award winning singles and chart-topping hits contribute to the success of My Everything, and to the enjoyment of the listener. Every time you listen to a song in My Everything, you are going to love Grande’s vocals even harder.

Great review. Wish you added your rating to the song(s) and had a secondary review based on the general public. This would be placed in the last paragraph, just to leave it on a good note. 88
