A couple of years ago at my family’s Thanksgiving, we had decided to play this new game called “Jackbox games”. My brother had told us that it was a multiplayer game; therefore, we should get all our cousins to play. There are 8 different sequels to “Jackbox games” but we played the original. At first, I felt like this was just going to be any other boring game. However, after a couple of hours of playing, I felt that it was the most fun I’ve had with my cousins in a long time because of how great the game was. “Jackbox games” are great for three reasons: The cheap price, multiplayer compatibility, and many mini-games.

Starting with the price, “Jackbox games” are fairly cheap. Nowadays, the average price of a game that is popular before the release is $60. However, “Jackbox games” are only $15 which makes them 75% cheaper than the average price of a game. Another way to can get the game is through a game pass, an Xbox subscription. The game pass costs $1 for the first month and $10 the following months. The game pass comes with over 100 games for free including “Jackbox games”. This is the way our family received the game when we first played it. Lastly, the game goes on sale often which makes the game even cheaper than the fair price of $15.

Another great thing about the game is that it's a multiplayer game. Most of the mini-games have a minimum of 4 players and a maximum of 10. This makes it accessible to play with a wide range of friends and family. Any of the mini-games can either be played locally or online. Locally means that players have to be in a household or wherever they’re playing to play. If the group wants to play with friends outside of a household, the owner of the game can stream it to friends or family by screen sharing on a website like discord

Also, there are many mini-games within the game itself. This makes it great if a group ever gets bored of the game they’re playing. Some of the mini-games include trivia, my favorite trivia game in the series is called murder trivia. In this game, the player gets a certain puppet and they must answer questions to not get a death mini-game. There are many death mini-games that must be controlled by the players that answered the trivia question correctly. If the player fails a death mini-game, they get eliminated from the game; therefore, the last player standing wins.

Another chunk of mini-games in Jackbox includes joke-telling. Most have a prompt, a sentence with a missing word, that the player has to fill in a blank and they get matched with someone that has the same prompt. The prompt with their filled-in answer then shows on the screen and then other players can vote on which joke was better, giving the winner points. Many of these games are easy to learn and can be a lot of fun.

With the price, different games, and multiplayer compatibility this makes “Jackbox games” great and worth the money. I’ve loved this game since I first played it with my family on Thanksgiving and would suggest it a ton. The game is on 3 different platforms: Xbox, PlayStation, Nintendo switch, and pc which makes it available to any person. Also, it is very easy to play with others because you only need a phone to use as a controller.  I would highly recommend this game because it is perfect for a family event or a hangout with friends.
