Making It One More Mile
I don’t find my happy here.
I don’t see what you find so dear.
Your every laugh, your every smile,
Just helps me take the extra mile.
You look at me and see a friend,
Yet I know I will cause you to descend.
My heart and my mind and my soul,
Always continue to spiral out of control.
You turn to me and take my hand,
You smile that smile that never ends.
I look up into your wide, bright eyes,
Struggling to keep down the storm inside.
We stay together for some time,
Until, oh, I see my ride.
I climb inside the dirty hatch,
You wave at me; I only smile back.
The storm inside, it can’t be thrown.
I cry here, at home, alone.
It scares me, how easy I could discard
The life I live that is always so hard.
