Execution of the Romanovs
A shot,
A scream,
A thud on the floor.
Glass shatters,
And someone slams a door.
Blood stains the floor,
The light wood to red,
The breath leaves her body,
Blood darker than lead.
The sobs of the boy,
And screams of his sisters
draws the gun’s gaze
And silences their wimpers.
A crack in the air,
A hole in his chest,
And four more thuds to follow.
“This is because of what you’ve done,”
The soviet declares,
And the last of the Romanovs fall.
