She is
She sings
Loud as a bird in May
The words don’t matter
And she doesn’t care what anyone else thinks
She runs
Fast as the breeze across the bay
Stopping at whatever interests her
And she has all day
She laughs
Whole as an unbroken sand dollar
Emitting pure joy
And I wish I was young again
She talks
Endless as water
Using words far beyond her years
And people listen (sometimes)
She cries
Quiet as a jackhammer
Feeling youth weighing her down
And she quickly rebounds
She sleeps
Peaceful as a lake mirroring the sky
Her body finally at rest
And I love her.
