July Days
It’s raining again
And I don’t see the end of this field
Someone’s playing this joke
When the sky is light and hot
But the rain just as cold
Only this joke lost its humor in April
And now the clouds are darkening
So maybe I’ll turn back
The earth can’t hold me anymore
Each shoe sinking with every step
Only it feels good
To not have something to hold onto
Just to let the mud
Swallow you
To let the booms
Reverberate around you
The light sky flashing into darkness
Madness was never more refreshing
Of course
I’ve never bathed in it before
So yes
Maybe I’ll turn back
The earth can’t hold me anymore
But I never asked it to
