I Miss What Things Used to Be
I miss what things used to be
Things were perfect with you and me
Your face; a shooting star in my onyx sky
As I stare, I reminisce, and I can't help but wonder why
Why is it that you had to go
I live my life for you, but now you'll never know
Every moment of my life today
I remember the things that you used to say
Your words will always guide me through
In hopes that one day I’ll be like you
Although they say that some memories may fade away
I know for sure that I’ll never forget the days
The hours we spent on our midnight walks
Or the nights on the phone with our endless talks
The mere sight of your smile made my problems disappear
Your presence was so warm, so hopeful, so incredibly sincere
Now I can’t help but suffer in everlasting doubt
Because you can’t be here to help me work things out
You are gone forever; I’m alone in despair
But to dry the tears, I close my eyes and I realize that you are always going to be there
