A Frozen Peach
Starring at a small, frozen fruit
A man starts to think about
Why his afternoon snack froze
He doesn’t recall putting it in the freezer
Or leaving it outside
Or how it became frozen
On a humid, uncomfortable, summer day
The peach was perfectly ripe,
Close to being perfectly symmetrical
Plump and beautiful
When the man left it that morning
Now, it is hard
Lifeless
And inedible
Sitting still
On the hard, cold, counter
Confused and upset,
The tall, arrogant man picked up the peach
And started to walk towards the garbage
As he felt the cold skin,
And the emptiness of the fruit,
He fell to the floor,
And started to cry.
