What the World Taught Me

Love is what we see in fairytales;
Struggles are made at clearance sales.
Winning means slighting others for self-gain,
And happiness is found at the bottom of fine champgane.
This is what the world taught me.
As I sat perched upon it's knee.
But as I grew too old for such "teachings" and "stories,"
I learned more on my own, of hidden images and glories.
