Three Ways I Would Rather Die
I
In blue, cascading death.
To sputter out a last breath
in ocean depths.
With cold, salted fingers
reaching
into my lungs.
Surface breaching:
belly up.
II
In a final, ravenous fit.
To grip my stomach, teeth, and grit
in starvation.
Monsters brawling in my gut
ripping
at my bones.
Drool dripping, halogen tripping:
eyes wide.
III
In the kiss of a windy sky.
To imagine wings, my concluding lie
in regal heights.
Like an eagle's solemn ceremony
plummeting
at the hand of gravity.
Bird-like enchanting, thrilling:
last landing.
