Death Swallows Me Whole
Death swallows me whole,
Like the digestive ways of snake.
It doesn't bite you to warn you of what's coming,
Telling you of your terribly unlucky fate.
It only opens it's mouth and consumes you,
Bringing you to a world of complete emptiness.
Nothing to comfort you, only grief, sadness, and sorrow.
Though it's quick, the pain continues none the less.
Yes, death can be so cruel.
Chew you up, just to spit you out in agony.
Leaving you when you're most vulnerable,
Having you second guessing what you see.
Death is like a very long tunnel,
And at the end there is no light.
A journey of never ending darkness,
With nothing comforting in sight.

This poem holds a meaning for me, especially the end. I consider it anti-suicide. Death does not hold comfort, it holds only a dark and unescapable void. One only has but one chance at living a happy life: every step, every turn, every decision...it will lead to the essence of what has already been done. Beautifully written.
